From the Pacific to the Atlantic Everyday Canada, one community at a time

About the Ledger

Canada is easier to understand one community at a time.

Coast to Coast Ledger is an independent everyday-life and community guide focused on places, experiences and useful local inspiration across Canada.

Our purpose

Much of what is written about Canada focuses on landmarks and big trips. We are interested in something closer to home: the neighbourhoods, markets, parks, waterfronts and seasonal routines that make up everyday life across the country.

Our purpose is simple: to help readers understand and enjoy Canadian communities, whether that means exploring their own neighbourhood, planning a weekend a short drive away, or getting a feel for a city before they visit.

What we cover

  • PlacesCities, towns and regions, and the everyday rhythm of each.
  • LifeFood and markets, neighbourhoods, culture, family life and seasonal living.
  • OutdoorsParks, trails, lakes, beaches, cycling and winter activities close to home.
  • CommunityPublic spaces, local events, independent businesses and traditions.

To be clear about what we are not: Coast to Coast Ledger is not a tour operator, travel agency, booking service, transportation provider or government agency. We do not sell tours, travel packages or accommodation.

How we approach stories

We write practical, original editorial content. Before publishing, we research using official and primary sources where possible, such as municipal websites, park agencies, transit operators and the organizations that run the places we write about.

We favour context over hype. Rather than ranking places as the “best”, we try to explain what makes them distinctive, when they are at their most enjoyable and what to keep in mind when you visit. Because details such as hours, prices and schedules change, we encourage readers to confirm important information with the relevant business or official source.

Editorial principles

  • Independence. Editorial decisions are made on the basis of usefulness to readers.
  • Transparency. Sponsored or affiliate relationships, if any, are clearly disclosed.
  • Accuracy. We check facts against reliable sources and correct errors promptly.
  • Respect. We write about communities as places where people live, not just places to visit.
  • Originality. We do not copy content from other publications.

Read the full Editorial Policy for details on sources, sponsored content, affiliate links and the use of AI-assisted tools.
